Reading Class.
Hello again
classmates!
This blog
is to present some comments about the class that I observed this week. On
Monday was the turn of Daniela, Johanna and Jenny, they developed a reading
lesson planning and they reviewed the previous vocabulary about professions and
taught new words (I want to be, learn, etc). Daniela started the class with the
warm up and pre during, she did an excellent job, she know how interacting with
kids (unfortunately, children did not arrive to class due to weather conditions,
but we were their students).Nevertheless, she did a job like it was with children. Then,
was the turn of Johanna, she introduced the audio and did the during, she tried
to interact with all the students, after that, Jenny developed the rest of
activities, she know how catch the students attention when they are
distracting. To be honest, I liked their activities because were very
appropriate to a reading class, especially I loved the activity in which they
used a chart in the board and choose different students to match the words with
the correct pictures in the chart. Also, I liked the way in which they
developed every single activities, they used the right time for each activity
and that was perfect.
A point
that I did not like was when they started with the audio because the teacher
did not ask if students could listen well and that can affect students.
Moreover the audio had many new words and some things in past that they did not
teach, the audio was clear and very good, but with kids it is important
introduce all the vocabulary that the audio will have in order to avoid that
students get confused.
I would
like to improve in that class some details. First, their teaching material, not
all the material, but the pictures yes, I think that pictures should have
colors to be more attractive to children. Also, some instructions were not
clear and it is an aspect that should be improve. Finally, I think that some of
them need to improve in their confidence, they did a good job and they need to
believe in that. They can improve these details by learning from each one, all
the people have mistakes and the important thing is to learn from them and try
to be better every day and about the aspect of the instructions they can
improve modeling the activities and giving short and clear instructions.
I really
liked their class; they did a great job, congratulations.
Hello Estefania, I could see that unfortunately there were no kids, but they did their practice, and that is something that I want to remark because the rest of observers as good friends (let´s use this word) were helping the group, so I guess they remembered being kids again. About the listening class, I could see some inconsistencies such as: new vocabulary (Also words in past), the color of the material with the "pictures" as you said, we need to focus in colorful things in order to call the students attention, however those facts were not affecting the whole class duration. Also I liked how they scheduled all the activities. I mean the manner in which they took their time developing each of them. Overall as I could read they performed a quite intersting job, even with some things to improve, but that is normal while practicing. At the end I could not be in that class, but reading your blog is like saying I was there , so good job!
ResponderBorrarhello Estefania I just read your blog and I feel that you are right in what you have shared with all, it was an inconvenience that the children could not attend the class due to the weather but fortunately several of our buyers came and so the class could be done I know there were many good things that we could do, but there were also bad things that we should improve as teachers, for example, what was wrong with the audio that did not ask if they could all hear it but mistakes are learned little by little .
ResponderBorrarHi Karla! Thank you for your comments about our class; as you mentioned there are many things that we need to improve next time. In relation with the material we needed more colorful pictures but we had a problem at the moment of print them, you know problems happen all the time the important part is to know how to solve them. Also, we made a mistake do not teaching them ore vocabulary related with the audio, fortunately were you with a high English level and you could understand but with kids it would have been a problem. Just to mention that was a listening class, not a reading class, but I agree with you because even though children did not get to the class, they did a really good performance because they taught like they had children. You mention that they need to improve their confidente, and maybe it is true, but in the case of Daniela I think she is really confident, also you say that instructions were not clear, and I think that they Just need to model and give examples of how to do it. Spite of that they did a really good performance. They Will be excelent teachers.

ResponderBorrarAs I read the listening class was interesting, the teachers worked with you like with children and they knew how to developed the class with this inconvenient. I know that they are a good teachers, but they had problems with the audio because it had some new things that they did not teach, but with our comments they will know it, and will improve it the next time. ResponderBorrarI agree with the points that you mentioned. Let me tell you that they did a good job. I can see that they have improved a lot. And I want to say that I agree with Sarai when she mentions to Daniela. I think that she did each activity with too much confident in herself, but not just her, also Johana and Alexandra. However, as we all know, we all make small mistakes but with practice everything can improve. Overall, thank you to shared your experience, since you said some things to improve and I would like to take some of them :).
Hi Karlita!! Here I am again, I like your blog and first I want to say that I feel exactly the same way when you say that girls made some little mistakes and I know they will improve some little details which they do not have to be worried about just keep on working on them. The weather was not as perfect as other days, despite that girls gave the class as usual, and this time we were the lucky to be the students. I loved Daniel´s performance she ignored that we were their classmates and she treated us as if we were the normal children of the class. All the three girls did it awesome. Nevertheless, I you say Johanna and maybe Jenny need be more confident. I know they got the potential to do it. In spite of this, I enjoyed the class, it was amusing and I love the Puzzle activity. I am completely sure children would have been engaged in the whole class.

ResponderBorrarI totally agree with you, I liked the materials and the way in which the girls did it although it was the class for children they could develop it with adults, and they knew how to keep the attention of us with every detail and activity and if as in each class there are some things to improve.
