Grammar Class (6 week)

Hello
everyone!
Today, I am going to write about the practice of this week. This week I observed the Wednesday class that was developed by Claudia, Sonia and Michelle. They taught grammar “she is a…” he is a…” emphasizing professions vocabulary. To start with the class, Claudia did the warm up and presentation, then, Sonia developed some activities such as join sentences in the correct order, I think that activity was very appropriate for a grammar class. To finish the class, was the turn of Michelle who did other activities very according to the class, I liked the activity with the dice. I really loved their teaching material, was so creative and that was very good because catch students attention especially because they are kids. Also, I liked their activities because they tried to involve all the children, I liked their attitude as teachers, Michelle looked very serious and sure of what she was doing and that was perfect.

To talk
about some points that I did not like, could be when the teacher start with the
warm up, she got confused when she gave the numbers to make couples and children
got a little confused. Moreover, I think that some instructions were not clear
and that is bad because students do not understand what they have to do, but except
for these points the other activities were developed very well.
Another
thing that I would like to mention is a detail that I would like to improve and
it is the tone of voice because it is one of the most important things in us as
future teachers that is why it is important improve in this aspect, but how can
we improve that?... well, I am going to share some recommendations that may be
useful. First, practice in front of the mirror to gain confidence. Second, record
yourself speaking in different tones of voice and then see the video to know which
the most appropriate tone of voice is. Third, ask a person that you have
confidence which tone of voice is listening better and with more confidence.
I hope that
those recommendations can be useful, and returning to the class, they did an
excellent job, congratulations!
Hello Karla! I agree with you when you mention that the materials were creative; These girls have imagination at the moment to create the decoration; they use colorful things and children like those details. Michelle was very confident about what she was doing and she could take the control over the class. But, always it is important to knowhow to give the instructions clearly because children sometimes get confused. And I liked your recommendations to improve our tone of voice; if we start to practice them I am sure that their group and ours will improve at the moment of teaching.
ResponderBorrarHello! I agree with you karla they have good techniques to make an excellent decoration because in this class it was simple decoration but had a good impression because I think that is not necessary to used a lot of things while be atractive is enough, also with the activities that they develop were excellent because they made that children understood each activity.
ResponderBorrarIt was an excellent class with better atittudes for each one.
Hello Karla I liked you blog, I wasn't able to be present during their class, but thanks to you I can see that they did a really good job. It is good to know that they use the material according to what they were teaching, I think that is also importat to imvolve all the children in the class so it is good that they did that. It is also important to give clear instructions, it is eassier for children to understand us when we use commands. The tone of voice is something that I might have problems with so thank you very much for your tips I'll take them into account.
ResponderBorrarThank you for sharing your expirience with us.
Hi Karla!
ResponderBorrarI like your observations in this class, you said that materials were nice and the activities were appropiated to the class. As I read, you said that sometímes teachers got confused and children toó, but I think it was because they were nervous or maybe they forget how to give instructions, but they will improve it in the next timé. I know that they are a good teachers and if had mistakes this time, they are going to avoid it the next class!
Hello Karla! unfortunately I was not in the class that our classmates developed because it is not my day that I have to go to observe, but I am totally with you about the materials used by the teachers because I can observe in your pictures that they were very interesting, and nice materials that they allowed the attention of the children; also, as you said we must be careful when forming groups or couples with our students since they are children and lightly confused if we are not creative.
ResponderBorrarHi Karla, I agree with you I was in the class and I observed the girls, they were confident doing the activities at some points, Claudia and Sonia perhaps were a little nervous but it is normal besides that all the three of them developed an excellent class. What you mention about the activities and materials they used was clearly well designed and well used. The activities were catching and I could note that children were really excited to participate when it was time to do it. Michelle as you said, was astonishing giving the class, she took the complete control of it and It was notable the way she have improved the other two girls were with the a good attitude and good explanation but in some point the instructions were a little confusing for children they could try to give just simple explanations next time, I really like the recommendations you gave to the girls and not just for the three of them but for all of us. At the moment of giving a class, it is an awesome idea to prepare our mind and how can we do it. First we can follow the first Karla´s recommendation, record yourself either in voice or video, these two tips are completely useful when we want to know how is going to be our performance like. In general the class was great, I liked it and the most important, I learnt from it.
